5 Indoor Uses for Outdoor Rugs

Believe it or not, the weather resistant and low maintenance qualities of an outdoor rug can be incredibly useful indoors as well. Just be sure to ask about the texture before making a purchase. Some of the more heavy duty patio rugs can be a little coarse.

The entryway

This is the portion of your home that gets the highest amount of traffic, and it’s the first thing you step on after a long day of work and play. Anything lingering on the bottoms of your shoes and your pet’s feet will collect in this space, and despite consistent efforts, it will be hard to keep this clean. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to simply drag it outside and hose it off?

The kitchen

Sometimes the kitchen floor can be a little boring and a little cold. Most of us avoid placing carpet in this space because of the obvious messes that tend to happen in the kitchen, not to mention the constant moisture that comes with cooking every day. An indoor-outdoor rug could easily be the solution to this conundrum, adding a friendly pop of color, but still keeping your kitchen a practical place to prepare family meals.

The kids room

If you’re a parent, you may very well be thinking “why didn’t I think of this before?,” and it’s totally okay. But the obvious implications of a low maintenance rug in a rambunctious child's room speaks for itself with little explanation needed. Sparing the details, suffice it to say that the occasional hose-down is not an outrageous concept when cleaning up after child.

If you’ve ever experienced a basement flood, or the dreary cold floors of an improperly insulated basement room, you may consider this a smart option not only to keep your feet warm, but to add a little life to the darkest part of your home. 

The bathroom

Even the tiniest bathroom floor could use a little extra insulation after you step out of a hot shower on a chilly morning. And the added convenience of a moisture resistance and a pop of color adds a level of sophistication to the space.
