Do You Need an Outdoor Rug?
As temperatures start to warm up, it is time to find more ways to get some fresh air.
Like bears emerging from their caves after a long hibernation, we can all finally venture out into our backyards once again. However, as we begin to redesign our outdoor entertaining areas, many of us do not put “rugs” on our decorating checklists.
Inside the home, a rug is the key element that helps to tie a space together. Why should outside the home be any different? Outdoor rugs can help pull any space together.
Here are 4 tips for giving your patio, deck or porch an instant makeover with an outdoor rug.
Tip #1:
As with indoor rugs, outdoor rugs also have certain unwritten size requirements. If looking for a rug to go under an outdoor table and seating area, make sure that the rug is large enough so that everything fits on it comfortably. A rug can be fun way to spruce up older outdoor tables and chairs. Try matching table setting details to colors in the rug for the ultimate outdoor display.
Tip #2:
Compliment your backyard amenities with an outdoor rug. Your rustic fireplace doesn’t have to only be surrounded by brick or wood. Try placing a rug in front of the fireplace for an even more comforting effect. Louging poolside? An outdoor rug can add a pop of color to your space and can also prevent wet footprints inside the home.
Tip #3:
If you have a larger porch, a rug can turn this space into a cozy hosting area. Make a porch swing more accessible by placing a rug underneath it. Outdoor coffee tables and chairs can also be made new again by the look of a new outdoor rug. If you live in an apartment and have a small balcony, a smaller outdoor rug can help make the space seem more inviting and larger.
Tip #4:
Similar to indoor hallway runners, rugs can also cover your outdoor walkways. Don’t settle for bare concrete or brick! Walkway rugs will bring amusement and liveliness to a traditionally boring space.
